When we receive a client question about whether someone has really won, we like to ask the following questions before trying to answer our clients:

1. Did you purchase or receive a ticket to the lottery you’ve been told you have won?

2. Do the numbers on your ticket match the winning numbers of the game in question.

We’ve found that people who actually win large lottery prizes always have the winning ticket in hand and have the numbers matching those drawn on their actual ticket.

So if you bought the ticket and your numbers match, you’ve probably won!  Otherwise, you’ve been emailed by a thief trying to steal from you.  Do not reply to them.
